Sword Fighters Guild All About
Convention Tournaments are run by NERO International and the representative Staff of the various local chapters in attendance.
Independent Tournaments are run by NERO Knights that take it upon themselves to fund, organize, promote and conduct Sword Fighter’s Guild Tournaments outside of Game Conventions and NERO Events. They may be run in conjunction with game store promotional events and college campus demonstrations, or completely on their own. Anyone interested in running Independent SFG Tournaments will be given a handbook.
NERO Event Tournaments are scheduled by NERO Knights of Licensed NERO Chapters to be held at NERO Weekend Events and NERO Adventure Days. Each participating local chapter has designated NERO Knight who fulfill the responsibilities of the Sword Fighter’s Guild tournaments - collect membership and tournament fees, to record and report results, and to ensure prizes are distributed both at the Event and afterward.
While at any game convention, NERO Event, NERO Affiliate Event, Game Store promotion or college campus demonstration sanctioned by the SFG, two members may request an exhibition-style Duel. A SFG Referee will be made available, and the duel will commence.
Each participating local chapter is encouraged to run Fighting Practices at each of their events, with at least one practice at each tournament. At each Fighting Practice a guild member will choose one weapon style to work on. All participating members will choose their weapons and hold a non-scored round robin-style tournament so that everyone fights every other style at least once. While there will be a NERO Knight to overseeing the Fighting Practice, each match will be refereed by the participants themselves on the honor system.
Training Sessions are a more intensive version of Fighting Practices. At a Training Session, each participant will be assigned a training group that is instructed by a sanctioned SFG referee (NERO Knight). The session is run as a miniature bracketed tournament, with the Judges coaching the members throughout each match. The participating members get sound fighting tips as well as a feel for the SFG Tournament process.
